Trust and Prayer

Happy Saturday!

I'm having a relaxing weekend and finally got to play with my stamps! YAY!I love this verse...sometimes life gets a little overwhelming and I think He's crazy, but, I go back to this verse and really hear it and it just sort of keeps me going!

I have to tell you that one of my favorite things about this challenge is just how different each little piece of art can be...I got some new Papertrey stamps--LOVE THEM--and this one just totally came out completely opposite of the 'homey' shabby look of my Trust card. So cool!

Here it is:These are great verses! AMEN! Thank you, Jesus...such great promises He made to us.

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend...I don't have alot of plans, just hanging out and going to eat with family tonight. Tomorrow will be clean up day and then I get ready to go to Tucson for work next week. Never been there--anyone have any suggestions about what to do??

Take care,

Linzi

Glad...

Here's one of the reasons why I'm behind on my posts and Scripture Challenge--can you guess where we are??I decided to pull out some Jenni Bowlin paper and crepe paper ribbon that I had never used, even though I bought it WAY back in September. Lately, I've been really feeling like I need to USE what I have...you ever look around your room/scrap area and feel like that?? Well, anyway, I used that stuff and one of the new Edger punches they have at Michael's...ugh, I have an edge/border punch obsession...stop me now!!I used the verses Matthew 5:12 and 2 Cor 12:9. Both verses really jumped at me...God is good!

I'm going to leave you with the final post of my ATC holder...YAY...it came in the mail and I know it only has the two cards, but I can see it filled up and looking so AWESOME! :)

Scripture Challenge 2009

EDITED: I posted that I was doing the His Holy Name, where actually I'm doing the Scripture Challenge 2009...I didn't understand there was a difference, but am now on the right track I think! :) Enjoy...

Well, I definitely, have NOT had time to keep up my blog...shame on me! It's so time consuming and I guess with the holidays and everything, it's been a while since I've shared anything. I am participating in the Scripture Challenge 2009 on Splitcoaststampers, so I figured, if nothing else, I'd share my weekly challenge entry on here.

I'm excited about doing this--as a Catholic, I know that alot of us, including myself, aren't as good at 'quoting' His word, but I want to try and open my heart to really knowing it, as opposed to just knowing 'the gist' of it, that I get from the weekly gospel. This really was put upon my heart, and I'm thankful that I get to do it.

I'm using an ATC format--never really done these, but have ordered the 7 Gypsies ATC holder and think it'll be awesome once I finish. I *LOVE* this size...I'm going to definitely start using these as starting points for some new cards, it's fast and easy, and I love it, really, I do!

Here's my entry for this week; the word we reflected on was PEACE.

It's pretty self explanatory; I used MM Sabrina product line, with a binder clip thrown on the top (ribbon is MM Sabrina, too). The chipboard piece was a Michael's $1 find (awesome!) and the jewels were from Hobby Lobby.

I think I'm off on my weeks, but hopefully this week I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong! ;)

Have a GREAT week...

Wow! A month!

I can't believe it's been about a month since my last post--where does the time go?! I swear once the election is over I am taking back control over my life and I will get back to this blog. I started it to force myself into creating and using the things I have hoarded forever, so that's what I'm gonna do! Now if only those pesky holidays don't get in the way... ;)

Here's the "short" list of what I've been up to:
  • Buying a new Honda Civic
  • Seeing the Cheetah Girls in Concert with my little cousin
  • Working...working...and more working...
  • Volunteering lots of hours at Republican headquarters here in Slidell
  • Visiting the fam while they were in town for my cousin's baby shower
  • Seeing New Kids on the Block in concert--so GREAT!
  • Going to the Macy's Grand Opening and meeting Tommy Hilfiger and Gavin Degraw with my 'beautiful life' friend Robin!
  • Seeing Gavin in concert afterwards
  • Going to the VooDoo music experience and seeing awesome bands like: Angels and Airwaves, Nine Inch Nails, Dashboard Confessional, Cold War Kids, I could go on and on...
  • Reading the Twilight book and LOVING it! I'm onto the second one--I can't believe my cousin sucked me in!
I'm beginning to see where the time went!! The four concerts in three weeks is impressive though, right...I guess it really is the 'beautiful life' that I'm living!

Well, now onto the good stuff...I made these cutie wootie ornaments at Scrapfest and just finished them. I did case the idea from someone's blog, so whoever is genius, please let me give you credit! I can't remember what blog it's from! Anyway, I used the clear top tins and stamped a snowman image and put it in the inside. This image is a CTMH image from one of the SOTM sets. I raised the snowman up on dimensionals to add a little depth. To get my 'hanger' I used my trusty cropadile to punch a hole and then added the ribbon loop. I then added clear irridescent 'snow' and glued the tin closed. I'm giving these for presents to some people at Christmas, so I hope those people aren't reading this! Here's the finished product:A look at my Christmas inspiration station/chaos:
I'm working on snowflakes right now for my Christmas cards...now, ask me if I have a design...um, no...why do I need glittery snowflakes? I'm not sure but they're really cute! lol Hopefully next post you'll actually see a completed card with these snowflakes...that would be great, right?!

See ya'll soon! :)

Finally, I'm back!

Sorry for the delay in posts...Gustav came through Louisiana and gave me a week long hurrication (that's a combination of hurricane evacuation and vacation for those of you who aren't familiar with the term) in the Great Smoky Mountains. Ike hit a few days later, causing me to evacuate again to higher ground, since I live on Lake Pontchartrain and the water kept rising and rising and rising, luckily sparing me any damage (a few feet more and that wouldn't have been the case!). Losing the week of work caused me to work a LOT of overtime to prepare for our accreditation site visit. Finally, that's over with and hopefully, now I can take a breath!

Now, don't think I didn't find time for a little fun in there--Scrapfest is a 3 day, 45 hour crop that is held in Mandeville, LA each Spring and Fall. They have lots of giveaways, vendors, classes--all the fun things you look for when going to a scrap retreat! It's such a blessing to be able to meet up with my friends each time, sometimes not having seen them for a whole year in between, and just really relax and work on projects. I am happy to say that I created over 100 things while I was there--45 baby announcements, and over 50 Christmas gifts, which I can't really talk about since some people who stalk my blog may be getting those gifts! It was alot of fun, needless to say!

I made a big Papertrey order before Scrapfest and finally got the Quilter's Sampler set...let me tell you, I LOVE IT! I'm on a quilting kick, since Mish got me all stirred up and into it with her lovely card creations, and her suggestion to read the Elm Creek Quilt novels. I am so into those books and of course, when you read them, you totally want to quilt! I am NOT getting another hobby, but I will continue to make some cute stuff with this set, I can promise you that! I missed making cards yesterday for WCMD, but I am sharing one that I made during Scrapfest.
Sorry for the bad picture, but I used the pink patterns 6 x 6 paper pad from Papertrey, along with the new Quilter's Sampler set. The ink colors were Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush Palette ink. I paperpieced the quilt blocks and added some button accents...don't you love it! I found that mini ric rac at Scrapfest and had to buy a bunch in all sorts of colors just so I'd have it to tie through those clear Foof-a-la buttons since it turned out SO CUTE! I have more to show you but my picture software is acting up so I'll try again tomorrow.

Hope your Sunday is restful--I'll be doing laundry and going to church later--no big plans thank goodness!

No Gustav!

Yep, no stamping for me...we're just trying to keep a good outlook on things here and of course, prepare for evacuation, if necessary. Katrina's anniversary is Friday and it is way too ironic that we're going through this again right now. I have faith that God's going to take control. Say a prayer for all of us here in New Orleans and South Louisiana...I'll post later when things calm down.

Inque Boutique Action...

Finally, finally, my new Silhouette Inque Boutique stamps have seen the light of day...and ink! I have had this set for a while now and made myself use them when I was playing around over the weekend. I started out with a rectangle on my nestabilities and then kept the frame on it to keep my 'border'. I stamped different colors of the Silhouettes set to match my Autumn Leaves Foof-a-la paper. I backed the image with a scalloped border of CTMH Blush. I used CTMH garden green organdy ribbon and added three clear dew drops to the bottom of the card (you can't see them too well on the small image but if you double click and blow it up, they're there!). Not sure I like the dew drops, but the card is pretty cute! I added a sentiment from my go-to Papertrey Faux Ribbon set. LOVE those sentiments, obviously!

You will be so proud of me--I sent out cards to over five people last week! Anyone that knows me will tell you I'm horrible at actually sending cards! But, I did it...it was heavy on my heart to tell those around me how much I cared about them and so I just did it! Go me, go me...can you hear me cheering myself on?! I challenge YOU to send out cards too--anyone else have the same problem that I do?
